The memorial to William Henry Paterson also contains a Union Jack, an Australian flag and a black and green rectangular colour patch.

W H Paterson was born and grew up in Annandale. His mother, Grace Helen Paterson, lived at ‘Hazelmere’, Trafalgar Street. Annandale.

He attended South AnnandalePrimary and St Aidan’s Sunday School. He had had militia training. His occupation was a brass finisher.

He enlisted on 6 September 1915 and was killed at Morlancourt, France. He served in the same Battalion as F A McRae (qv).

The mural tablet was unveiled in May 1919.
