Village is hiring a new children’s pastor

Village Church is a friendly and creative church in Sydney’s Inner West.  We’re about loving Jesus, each other, and attempting to serve the inner west and the media community. Plus we’re a really nice fun group to work with!

Children’s Pastor

Village is looking to employ a full time children’s pastor to assist us in reaching our 2017-2020 Vision goals,  replacing the excellent IMGP0316Kristy Griggs who is stepping down in early June (to have a baby) after four great years of service.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Evidences a committed, authentic and tested faith in the risen Lord Jesus as our only saviour and hope.
  • Deep love for Jesus, and a strong commitment to seeing people live for the glory of God in all their lives.
  • Strong commitment to seeing lives changed by the gospel via prayer and the word of God.
  • Can wholeheartedly endorse the mission, vision, beliefs and values of Village Church.
  • Theologically-minded and able to show evidence of handling and teaching the Bible faithfully.
  • Willing to work alongside others in a team and under the Lead Pastor.
  • Dynamic and clear communicator to children.
  • Is able to establishing, training and leading teams and their leaders.
  • Clear, humble and an engaging leadership style, calling people to make sacrifices for the cause of Christ.
  • Excellence in professional skills such as clear written and verbal communication, time-management, organisation, and systems thinking.

Specifically our children’s pastor will

Lead Village’s Sunday kids programs

  • Raising up and training leaders to serve at Village Creche 9-11:30am
  • Participating in and raising up and training leaders at Village Kids & Village Pre School 8:30-11:30am
  • Setting teaching program for year
  • Managing the efficient and effective operations of the Village Kids Sunday program, including the systems, processes and policies, and keeping leaders up to date with WWCC and Safe Ministry.
  • Establishing quality Kids Spots in special church services that create shared experience among different generations in knowing Christ.

Growing our mid-week after school kid’s club Kmotion

  • Participating in and training leaders at Kmotion on Wednesdays 3-6pm
  • Setting teaching program for year
  • Keeping leaders up to date with WWCC and Safe Ministry

Overseeing mid-week Girls Group

  • 12052515_10156085784420150_660934513037917181_oParticipating in and training female leaders at Year 5-6 girls group on Fridays 3-6pm
  • Setting teaching program for year
  • Keeping leaders up to date with WWCC and Safe Ministry 

Overseeing mid-week Boys Group

  • Training and meeting regularly with male leaders for Boys Group on Wednesdays 3-6pm
  • Working with leaders to set teaching program for year
  • Keeping leaders up to date with WWCC and Safe Ministry 

Overseeing Scripture/Special Religious Education in two local primary schools

  • Participating in and training leaders at Scripture on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings
  • Complete the Youthworks Module Leaders training course to become a Module Trainer
  • Training all Village Scripture teachers in the Youthworks Module training course
  • Sourcing Youthworks CEP curriculum
  • Keeping up to date with teachers’ WWCC, Safe Ministry, and any Youthworks requirements
  • Liaising with schools, establishing relationships with school principals and staff 

Overseeing school holiday programs

  • Setting dates, managing advertising, managing registrations for holiday programs
  • Recruiting and training leaders
  • Setting teaching program, training leaders to give talks
  • Overseeing program
  • Liaising with Membership team to recruit welcomers
  • Ensuring all leaders are up to date with WWCC and Safe Ministry 

Overseeing kids camps

  • Managing advertising, managing registrations for Square 1 camp on last weekend of October
  • Managing transport logistics and overseeing Village kids while on camp
  • Ensuring all leaders are up to date with WWCC and Safe Ministry
  • Creating program for Refresh Kids weekend
  • Recruiting and training leaders
  • Providing resources and participating in program

Supporting Village Playgroup

  • Provide the link between the Village mums who co-ordinate playgroup and staff team.

Overseeing family movie nights

  • Setting dates, managing advertising, managing RSVPs for movie nights
  • Liaising with Membership team to recruit welcomers
  • Liaising with Mission team to arrange support
  • Planning logistics (movie, media, food)
  • Ensuring all leaders are up to date with WWCC and Safe Ministry

Participate in various Training events

  • Youthworks or SMBC Children’s Ministry training conferences
  • Next Gen conference
  • Scripture (SRE) annual conference day
  • Special events run by Kidswise
