About Us

At our church, people are encouraged to grow in personal relationship with Jesus (as their Lord and Saviour) and to put the love of Jesus into practice – knowing, caring and engaging with others in our community.

We are a gathering of people who are in relationship with Jesus or exploring the possibility, who work in the media and who live in the inner- west community.

As most churches pray for ministry in their local area, we regularly pray for and encourage ministry in the inner-west area and the virtual community of the media.

Our Mission

Under God and for Christ’s glory it is our desire that in our Village Church family we will build each other up as disciples of Christ; read his word daily and hear God’s word taught faithfully each Sunday; will be faithful in prayer to our heavenly Father; be transformed by the Spirit of God. We will worship God at church and in every aspect of our lives.
At church we will equip each other to serve one another, strengthen each other’s love for God, for each other and the lost. We will be committed to building God’s people, reaching the inner west and the media and impacting the nations.

Our Story

Village Church has its roots in the Christians in the Media ministry to Sydney’s media workers. While working at 2UE and 2WS Dominic Steele noticed media makers and church communities weren’t engaged.

Christians in the Media started as a support network for media workers, and in 1999 planted a church.The Sydney Anglican Church invited Dominic to take over the leadership of then St Aidans, Annandale in 2002 and Dominic started to turn his attention to reaching not just the media, but Sydney’s inner west with the good news of Jesus.

Our Staff

Dominic Steele :: Senior Minister

Dominic heads up the Christians in the Media network ministry, which has the goal of reaching media workers with the gospel and is the lead pastor of Village Church Annandale and Christians in the Media.
During the week Dominic teaches the Bible at church, our Tuesday lunchtime meeting at the Harlequin hotel in Pyrmont and to media students. He is married to Catherine and they have three children. Contact Dominic via email or phone 02 9660-2444.

Micheal Pickering :: Ministry Apprentice

His second year with us as a Ministry Apprenticeship. He work part time with Village Church and spends the rest of his time working with Quiz Works and Christians in the media.

Jen Lam :: Kids Ministry Worker

Jen Lam is married to Jon and they have a son Jeremy who is a toddler. Jen has served in Annandale since 2006. She is in the office two days a week and coordinates children’s ministry activities at Village Church including Creche, Kids Church and Littlies Playgroup. She also coordinates SRE (scripture lessons) at Annandale and North Annandale Public Schools. Jen arranges training for our kids ministry volunteer leaders and makes a priority of making Village Church a safe environment for our children to grow and learn from the Bible together. Jen loves Jesus and is thrilled that Jesus loves kids and that kids can be friends with Him – even from when they are tiny tots – cos that is when she first got to know Him.

Hannah Burgess :: Administration

There is a great deal of administration associated with the running of our ministries. Hannah does an exceptional job at managing our ministry’s admin and finances.

Nick Watson :: Video & Web coordinator

First started in Sydney studying Media Production and then worked as a Promo producer for a TV channel. He now is a part time Video, Web Producer for the Christians in the Media network & Village Church.
